ABOUT

OUR MILSIM IDEA

WELCOME
WELCOME TO NORDIC MILSIM:  A Realistic Military Simulation

At Nordic Milsim, we immerse you in a thrilling and authentic military simulation set within a richly crafted fictional universe. Our events aren't just games—they're chapters in an epic saga, where the stakes are high, and every decision counts.

Imagine a world where NATO and Russia, along with their allies, are locked in an intense, large-scale conflict. This alternate universe is the stage for our meticulously designed scenarios, where you, the player, become a key figure in shaping the outcome of this ongoing war.

Each event is more than just a standalone experience; it's a pivotal moment in a continuously evolving storyline. As you navigate through missions, your actions not only determine the current outcome but also ripple forward, influencing future events and the overall narrative. The history of previous battles is always present, providing context and depth, while your current choices set the stage for what's to come.

Additionally, our events are divided into two distinct gameplay categories: force on force and insurgency.

In force on force events, two large military units are in direct conflict with each other throughout the entire event. The gameplay focuses on combat, with an emphasis on completing missions, seizing territory, leadership and teamwork among the units.

Insurgency events, however, start without direct confrontation. In these events, the military units are smaller, and a civilian population plays a significant role. These games have a strong LARP (Live Action Role Play) element, where the story progresses through interactions between players. The civilian population is central to the storyline, while the military units must complete tasks and advance the game with as little armed conflict as possible. In insurgency events, your imagination shapes your civilian character, but no one character takes center stage. You could play a range of roles, from a homeless person searching for food to a respected lawyer secretly selling weapons to insurgents by night.

Regardless of the event category, all games take place within the same shared fictional universe, where they influence one another and contribute to the overall storyline.

To dive deeper into the intricate backstory that drives our events, explore the "Story" section on our website. Here, you'll find the detailed lore that forms the backbone of our universe, offering a richer understanding of the world you’re about to step into.

Join us at Nordic Milsim and become part of a dynamic, player-driven narrative where every event brings new challenges, new alliances, and new opportunities to shape the course of this epic conflict.

LEADERSHIP & CADRES
LEADERSHIP & CADRES

In our team, we go beyond just having organizers who focus on what happens before and after each event—we also have dedicated individuals embedded within the gameplay itself. We understand that having people in high-visibility vests during a milsim event can break the immersion, so we avoid that entirely. Instead, we have selected key individuals, known as cadres, who are embedded in each platoon as platoon sergeants.

A cadre is carefully chosen by us to be part of our team. Their role is to ensure the well-being of every player in their assigned platoon, while also acting as a crucial link between the platoon and the event organizers. The cadre supports the platoon leader by providing mentorship and guidance during the event, helping to enhance the overall experience.

This approach allows each platoon to have an organizer who is fully immersed in the game, participating in every aspect alongside the players. This means they can offer on-the-spot support directly where it’s needed, without disrupting the atmosphere or flow of the game.

To maintain the realism of military operations, each faction in the game is led by players with military experience. As a participant, you’ll be assigned to a platoon within your faction and will be expected to follow the tasks given by your platoon leader. Effective communication and adherence to the command structure are vital; not following the structure could result in missing out on important elements like ammo and medic resupplies, mission updates, and other critical aspects of the experience.

Logistics System
Enhanced Realism: With Our Logistics System

Logistics are crucial in military operations—without timely delivery of the right resources, even the most skilled soldiers can be rendered ineffective in battle. To replicate this critical aspect in our events, we, as organizers, provide all ammunition during the game, free of charge.

At the start of the game, each player receives a set amount of ammunition based on their weapon type, with resupplies occurring throughout the event. We manage the distribution of ammunition to ensure that it reflects the success of mission objectives and the efficiency of each faction’s operations. This approach not only adds realism to the simulation but also introduces strategic gameplay elements. Players must carefully consider how to use their ammunition and decide which weapon systems to prioritize when supplies are limited.

Thanks to our new sponsorship with Velox Airsoft, all players will receive an initial supply of .32g BBs, along with resupplies during the event, at no extra cost. It is important to note that bringing your own BBs is strictly prohibited, and violations will result in ejection from the game. For roles that require different BB weights, such as snipers or DMRs, you must coordinate with the event staff. These BBs will be held by the cadre and distributed during resupply.

.

In addition to managing ammunition, we have implemented an advanced medic system that enhances the realism and strategic depth of our events. Instead of relying on traditional 'respawn points,' where players wait at a static location after being taken out, we’ve adopted a more dynamic approach.

We believe that static respawn points create several issues: they break immersion, cause separation among platoon members, and lead to unnecessary delays as players try to regroup before rejoining the game. Moreover, this system makes it difficult to control the number of respawns without negatively impacting the entire faction's success, and it doesn't fully utilize the potential of the medic role.

To address these challenges, we employ squad and platoon medics who are responsible for getting downed players back into the action. If you’re completely taken out, a medic within your faction can revive you by administering an 'IV.' These 'IVs' are integrated into the logistics system, just like ammunition, and are essential to the gameplay mechanics.

Squad and platoon medics will be equipped with these medic supplies, including 24CL plastic flasks of water used as part of the medic resupply. As the game progresses, these supplies will be replenished, ensuring that medics can continue to support their teams effectively.

Mission-Based Objectives: For Strategic Gameplay
Mission-Based Objectives:

Our game does not rely on control points or similar mechanisms. Instead, primary and secondary objectives are dynamically assigned based on decisions made by both cadre and players. These decisions determine which areas are of strategic interest, simulating real-life military operations where certain terrains or structures gain importance depending on the mission objectives. Each mission is vital to the overall success of your faction, and tasks will evolve as the game progresses.

Experience Over Points
Experience Over Points

Our priority is to create an immersive MILSIM event that captures the essence of real-world military operations. Unlike a video game, we don't focus on scoring points; instead, we aim to enhance the experience by prioritizing the authenticity and realism of every aspect of the event.

Leadership Structure and Weapon Allocation
Leadership Structure and Weapon Allocation

A combat squad is divided into different roles, each with specific weapon systems and skills. This allows the squad to handle various tasks and work together effectively to achieve the best possible results.

We apply the same structure. In our MILSIM event, the organization is reflected from the top of the hierarchy down to each individual player. A faction consists of 1-2 companies, and each company has a commander, a deputy commander, a company sergeant, a company RTO (radio operator), and a company medic. Each company is divided into several platoons, depending on the number of participants at the event. Each platoon is led by a platoon leader who is assisted by a platoon sergeant (cadre), a platoon RTO, and a platoon medic. These leaders oversee 3-4 squads, each consisting of 8-10 players, and divided into two fire teams.

To simulate the real-world composition of squads, including their skills and weapon systems, we impose restrictions on how a squad can be equipped and which weapons players are allowed to use. The restricted weapons include LMGs (Light Machine Guns), MMGs (Medium Machine Guns), DMRs (Designated Marksman Rifles), and sniper rifles.

Within each squad, two players are allowed to use machine guns, with the limitation that only one player may use an MMG. This means two players can either use an LMG each or a combination of one LMG and one MMG. Additionally, one player in the squad is allowed to use a DMR.

Snipers are a resource for the entire faction, and only 1-2 sniper teams per faction are allowed. These teams operate directly under the company commander’s leadership.

Faction Distinction: Through Uniforms and Weapons
Faction Distinction

To clearly differentiate between factions, we enforce specific uniform and weapon system requirements. Players are required to customize their gear to match the faction they represent, ensuring a realistic and organized visual distinction on the field.

Armbands are not required, with certain exceptions, but they are permitted for use.

Operational Planning & Communication
Operational Planning & Communication

Primary tasks and strategic planning are communicated through each faction's Operation Order (OPORD), which is sent to registered players via email. Additionally, each faction will have a dedicated Facebook group for further coordination and communication. These groups are specific to the event and will be used to ensure smooth communication before and during the event.

Patrol Base: Living from Your Pack
Patrol Base

Just like in a real-world military operation, players are expected to endure the entire event using only the equipment they personally carry. This event simulates all aspects of such an operation, not just combat.

Throughout the event, you'll be living out of your pack, which means you'll need to carry all essential items, including water, food, and sustainment gear, in your backpack. From the check-in area, you'll hike to the initial patrol base with all your gear on your back. Proper planning and packing are crucial, as you won’t have access to additional resources along the way. Ensure your pack is well-organized and manageable, as you'll need everything with you for the duration of the event.

The patrol base may be relocated based on game progression and tactical decisions. Because of this, tents are not a viable option due to the time they take to set up and take down. In case of an emergency, you may be allowed to access your vehicle or similar resources, but only with permission from your cadre.

You and your platoon are a team—do your part by assisting others, contributing to base security, and staying prepared at all times. Together with your platoon and the cadre, you'll gain valuable life skills that extend beyond airsoft.
